Talking Tourist exists to grow both your confidence and ability to communicate in the local language before your next trip, connecting you to native teachers who are expert in teaching Spanish conversation for their local area.  

 

What sets Talking Tourist apart from other language learning apps and websites is a focus on conversation practise from the outset, not as an afterthought, giving you real results there and then. And not just any conversation practise, but conversation that is relevant to you, tailored to your travel destination.

 

Think learning how to order your favourite food in a restaurant, buying tickets for an excursion, or asking for recommendations on the best local things to do. We don’t just talk the talk, we walk the walk and get you learning and using the language from your very first lesson!

Take on the Spanish-speaking world…one lesson at a time. You’re learning Spanish because you’re going on a trip. The experience should be fun, right? 

 

Absolutely! But we know that fun alone doesn’t always get results (otherwise, you’d be on Duolingo right now). We know that learning Spanish needs to be fun, easy and, most importantly – built around you. Cookie-cutter lessons aren’t going to cut it.

 

That’s why our approach is different from any other.

 

Ours is a simple 5-step process to help you take whatever you know about Spanish (even if that’s a big fat NADA), to not just speaking it, but feeling confident and excited about speaking it on your trip! Exactly as it should be. 

 

How it works;

1. Tell us where you’re going and we’ll source your teacher options

2. Pick your teacher and book your lessons. They are 50-minutes long and fit neatly into lunch breaks!

3. Your lessons will be customised for you – your learning level, style and your destination. We fit lessons round the activities you want to do, the people you want to meet and the places you’re visiting.

4. Join your lesson and start your Spanish speaking journey. Keep track of your lessons, learning and schedule with a personalised dashboard

5. Pack your bags, land at your destination and start using what you’ve learnt!

You can use Talking Tourist using any device with internet, no app download needed! 

 

We know you don’t want ANOTHER app on your phone, so we have made it super easy for you and all bookings and lessons are available straight from your desktop or mobile browser (where you are now 😊). 

 

Just choose your teacher, book a lesson, and login through email or our website when the time for your lesson arrives and meet your teacher in our virtual classroom. Its as easy as that! Take your lesson wherever works for you, at home, in a coffee shop, on your lunch break at work. 

PRICing

At Talking Tourist, we believe in transparent, flexible pricing so you can choose what works for you. All our costs are one-off and clearly laid out upfront, with no subscription needed.

 

The exact price depends on the teacher and the destination you’re learning for, but you can see all prices per teacher, per lesson upfront in Step 1 of the booking process. No surprises, no checkout shock.

 

Check out our pricing and packages page for average costs per lesson, which get cheaper the more lessons your purchase. You can also take a nosey at the available teachers for the destination you are interested in, to see exact pricing, by starting the book a lesson process.

 

If you are a new customer, you can get an additional discount off your first booking, by signing up to our mailing list. This is applied on top of any existing lesson package discounts. By being part of our mailing list you will also receive loyalty discounts from time to time in your inbox, aswell as travel partner discount, free language resources and location tips and recommendations.

Talking Tourist lessons and lesson packages are pay as you go with no subscription required. Got a busy unpredictable schedule? No problem, our classes can be booked in for any time or day to fit around you and if needed can be rescheduled easily up to 24 hours before.

 

There is no locking you into paying a monthly subscription like some other platforms. We understand this is a one-off trip, and therefore a one-off purchase to prepare for that trip. We would love you to return to us for your next trip, especially as we expand our number of languages and destinations. 

Booking

To help you decide, here is a helpful guide to our lessons and packages. We have 3 package options to choose from, designed to meet the needs of everyone from a taster session through to getting conversational before your trip, we’ve got you covered.


✨ Conversation Taster (One-off lesson) – Perfect if you are a newbie wanting to try out your first lesson with us! Ideal for learning a bit of Spanish before a weekend trip away or a top-up just before you travel or when you arrive.


✨ Conversation Starter (5-lesson package) – Struggling to move from learning to speaking? The Conversation starter package will give you a good baseline to work from and grow your language speaking skills before your trip.


✨ Conversation Club (10-lesson package) – Perfect for those looking to master scenario-based Spanish conversions. Heading off on a long trip, sabbatical or dive into life living abroad? This one’s for you!

Lessons

Talking Tourist’s online lessons are designed to fit your schedule and goals. With 50-minute sessions, you can build them into your daily routine – whether it’s before work, during lunch, or in the evening. Plus, you can join from anywhere with just a click of a button, no commute time needed!

 

We have specifically designed our lessons to work for both our learners (long enough to learn but not too long to get fatigued), and for our teachers to allow them time to prepare for their next lesson and take a small break in-between where they have back-to-back booking.

We know life gets in the way sometimes and things change so you can reschedule your lesson for free anytime up to 24 hours before the lesson date/time.

 

If you are unable to make your lesson for any reason with less than 24 hours, then your only option is to cancel the lesson. Given a teacher is unable to gain a new lesson booking in that time, they will still be paid for their time. If you have had to cancel last minute due to unforeseen circumstances, then please contact hello@talkingtourist.com and we will look to reimburse you where possible.

Just yourself and a stable internet connection! You can join on any device but we would recommend the bigger the screen the better so that you can see your teacher and any lesson material they wish to share with you.  

 

You don’t have to do anything beforehand, but if you wish you can contact your teacher to say hello or ask any questions via the platform. There is a messaging option once you login where you can communicate there.
